Bodmin Riding Festival postponed

Updated: May 17, 2020

EDIT (17.5.2020): Discover our new plans to mark the 2020 festival with a series of alternative celebrations, here.

Dear Rebels and supporters,

It will come as no surprise that we have made the decision to postpone the festival in it’s usual format for this year. The safety of our community, audience and volunteers, is so important and whilst we hope to be in a very different situation by July, we also can’t commit to putting plans in place to bring Bodmin the excellent event it deserves.

The Festival will return next year, taking place from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th July, with the main event on Saturday 3rd July 2021.

Whilst we’re disappointed that we can’t share what was shaping up to be a brilliant event with you all as planned, and we won’t be holding our public planning meetings again until further notice, we are committed to putting our hard work and enthusiasm to good use. Project partner intoBodmin are busy looking at ways their planned activities can evolve and take place at home during this period of loneliness and isolation, and the Riding committee are looking at what we can do to support the local businesses and community groups the Festival is designed to champion. We’d also like to offer our support to any community events which are able to go ahead later in the year, please get in touch.

We also intend to stay engaged by using our online channels as a place for preserving community and positivity, continuing to share our town heritage, pride and strong Bodmin spirit in these strange and challenging times. Please stay tuned.

Looking ahead hopefully to July, we are exploring the possibility of some kind of small event on our usual date (whether this takes place online or ‘real life’ depends on circumstances being safe and sensible to do so) so watch this space. By that time, we will all deserve some form of community celebration.

We appreciate your continued support. Please take care.

The Bodmin Riding Festival Committee
